As the designer for Protos Eyewear, I have been responsible for creating a collection of unique eyewear designs that leverage the properties of 3D printing. Our collection features highly sculptural surfaces that are nearly impossible to replicate through traditional means of manufacturing, all while being customized for you. My team was among the first to ever create a truly consumer-grade 3D printed product.
Shoot wirelessly with multiple cameras. SlingStudio is multi-camera made easy, and it works well with professional cameras and smartphones. Add a SlingStudio battery and it's all portable and wireless, simplifying your shoots and freeing you from the shackles of conventional camera setups. SlingStudio came to us with the technology and asked us to do the industrial design. My role in the project was to help develop the design language as well as sketch out the initial concepts.
While working with the team at Deap Design, I have developed dozens of faucets, bathtubs, and accessories for the home. One of these many faucets was the Kohler Sous kitchen faucet. Inspired by restaurant kitchens, the Sous faucet brings the convenience and performance of a professional faucet to your home kitchen. A high-arch pull-down spout with exposed spring provides outstanding range, flexibility and control for every task, from food prep to filling pots to cleanup.I worked very closely with principal designer Anna-pia Slothower in developing this particular concept and helping to finalize it for the market.
Flying Eyes makes eyewear that fits comfortably under a headset or helmet. Standard frames with metal or thick plastic temples dig into your head in a very uncomfortable way. Flying Eyes solved this problem by creating frames with micro-thin temples that don't put pressure on your head when worn with a helmet.
I was tasked with providing the design direction for Flying Eyes' next wave of eyewear frames. We started with a standard mens prescription frame that fit the widest range of people possible while still having a memorable aesthetic.
The Flow bass guitar is a fully functional musical instrument that was built almost entirely by hand. The laser-etched pattern on the red cedar top visually communicates the types of flowing, expressive sounds you can get from the instrument. This bass features a fretless neck and a piezo-style pickup embedded in the bridge, allowing for controlled note articulation, vibrato, and glissandos.
The Ambiance speaker is a bluetooth speaker that is meant for home listening. The main things that make this a "home" speaker are its sculptural vase-like form, natural sound, and a remote that docks itself on the top of the speaker. This speaker has two mid-range drivers in the center and one down-firing subwoofer in order to improve bass response. Its strictly non-consumer electronics look and feel lend itself to a home environment much better than your standard black plastic and silver square boxes.
Slide is a headphone concept for the urban commuter. Comfort, durability and sound quality are the top priorities for this user. Slide is an over-ear headphone that addresses comfort needs by swiveling in three axes. The intersection points are robust and sturdy, especially where the headband meets the earcup, which is also functions as a signature iconic design element.
This sunglass frame is specially fitted to women with petite features (short faces, large eyes, high arched eyebrows, etc.). I utilized 3D printing to create a temple piece that acts as a hinge as well as a pressure reliever on the side's of the wearer's face.
